Office Publisher and WORD 2003 nonresponsive if connected to inte.

After downloading an update to Windows XP, my Office 2003 programs are
nonresponsive if I am connected to the internet. If I try to open them they
"freeze" and I must go to Task Manager to close them all. There is no problem
whenever I am NOT connected to the internet. Office 2003 Service Pack 1 & 2,
plus Update for Office 2003 (KB907417) have been installed.
I must be able to copy and paste from the internet to my Publisher or Word
programs for work but now I can no longer do so. Someone please help... in
simple terms please! Thank you so much!

KCC again...checked my error reports for information. Displayed: Hanging
application MSPUB.EXE and WINWORD.EXE, if this is any further help.

Empty your temporary cache, in Internet Explorer, tools, Internet Options, delete
files.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this, but all programs did the freeze. I
"Ctrl Alt Delete" to get to the Task Manager to slowly but surely get them
all to close. I was also told I could try going into any Office program,
clicking on HELP then Detect & Repair and follow the instructions. I did this
and the Publisher program didn't freeze when I opened it, however, when I
tried to copy and paste from a website (while connected to the internet) the
page did freeze. I tried restarting my computer before trying to open
Publisher and that evidently didn't help either. Any other suggestions? Many
thanks!
