office update does not start

Every time I try to use Office update I go directly to the Installation
Troubleshooter page. I have tried following the link back to try again and
also tried the use larger files. But no matter what it does not even seem to
attempt to download anything.

It does not allow me to download manually. At least it is not obvious how I
can do this.
Actually I was finally able to get them to download by turning off my
download accelerator. But after waiting 3 hours for the download to finish
the install failed. The sad part is it it does not tell me why. It does send
off a report to Microsoft though.

Actually I think I have a clue about what is happening.
I have 2 accounts on my PC. I updated from an older version of Office on the
one account. I was on the second account when I tried to do the Office
update. Fro some reason it decided that I need some updates for the older
version of Office. The when it tried to install them it did not like it.
I am not sure why the checker thought that I have the old and the new
version installed.

I can unselect the older updates and it appears to install the other updates
OK.

I guess my next step will be to try re-installing the new version of office
on the second account and see if that clears up the problem.

I really do not understand when I updated Office on one account that the
other account would have information on both the new and the old versions of
office. It appears that the install does not do a good job of cleaning up all
old keys in the registry.
