office user setup

J

jennifer

I must have deleted a temp setup file that allows me to
use office programs. I get an error
message after an attempt to repair "Can't repair.
Windows installer error 1601.
ms outlook has not been installed for the current user.
please run setup to install the application"

I inserted office cd.. and it says that the windows
installer service could not be accessed....if windows
installer isn't correctly
installed. " What do I need to do?

Also, I have downloaded updates for ms office and I
instert the xp standard cd
to install and it refused to do so..."can't recognize
path"

thanks.

To resolve this problem, shut down the Windows Installer service and then
re-register it. This makes sure that the Windows Installer engine functions
properly. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start , and then click Run .
In the Open box, type msiexec /unreg , and then click OK .
When this process is complete, click Start , and then click Run .
In the Open box, type msiexec /regserver , and then click OK .
When this process is complete, reinstall the update.
