Office XP Professional installation

J

Jacqui Ogborn

We are currently using the Office 97 Suite and have
purchased the full program of Office XP Professional (not
the upgrade version)for use on the same computer. Do I
need to completely uninstall the Office 97 version prior
to installing the Office XP Professional version and if I
do, will Office XP components read and access the files
from Office 97 that were copied to zip disks?

Thanks for any help you can give. Our '97 version is
deteriorating and I have problems specificall with excel.

Hi, Jacqui,

You don't have to uninstall Office 97 first; the Office XP installation will
offer to do that for you during its installation.

As far as your question about reading files, I'm not sure exactly your
scenario. But Office XP will open data files that were created in earlier
versions of Office. It will need to convert Access files, but otherwise,
you shouldn't see any any problems with the upgrade.
