Office XP Standard for students and teachers not installed right

I recently received office xp standard for students and teachers version
2002. When I installed it some of my existing office software doesn't work or
when I try to open microsoft word it will say loading on some occassions.
Also, I use 2 desktops..one for my husband and one for me..mine works most of
the time, but my husbands desktop has lost some of the other office software.
My outlook always loads with a runtime error and then closes, and when I
reopen it will work fine. I was running Microsoft Office 2000 Premium before
I installed standard. I need this version for school. How do I fix the
problem?
