OFFICE XP TRANSFER

G

G Aughey

I was wanting to transfer my old copy of Office XP Standard from my home
computer to our family small business computer. How do I go about doing
this? I figure it's ok because A) it's version 2002 and B)it's only going to
a home office level business PC. I hope this can be done because the 2004
Office disc that we originally had at our shop was stolen and we cannot
access any of the original documents plus the cost to replace the disc is way
beyond our means at this time. Thank You for your assistance.

First and foremost, without the original CDs you can't transfer.
Second, if the Office XP came with the computer, it is likely to be what
is normally called OEM version. This version cannot be transferred to
another computer at all even if it is in the same household.

Only the retail version can be transferred to another computer provided
it is uninstalled from the first.

Office 2003 [retail versions only] gives you more options. It can be
installed on upto 3 systems within the same household. Perhaps this is
not the option for you due to your current circumstances.
