Office2003 upgrade eligibility??

M

Matt K.

I have a desktop computer that came with Office 2003 already installed on it.
(I think this is what they call OEM?) Included are 3 apps...Excel, Word,
Outlook. Anyways, as far as I can tell from looking in the HELP>ABOUT in
Excel, I have Office 2003 Basic Edition.
Ultimately I would like to install Access2003. While at the store, I notice
there is the Office Professional Edition which includes Word, Excel, Outlook,
Powerpoint, Access, Publisher, and more. I also notice there are "full" and
"upgrade" versions.
My question is: Is my Office2003 Basic Edition eligible for the upgrade
version?

If I cannot use the upgrade version of the Professional package, I assume
the same applies if I only bought the Access2003...I would have to buy the
full version??

I contacted my computer manufacturer, but they couldn't seem to answer or
understand what I am talking about.
Thanks in advance for help.

While your Office 2003 Basic does not qualify for an upgrade to Office 2003
Professional, check the qualifying products here:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/howtobuy/professional.mspx

Your new computer may have a pre-installed qualifying product. The
qualifying product can be an OEM pre-installed version.

Thanks guys...

sorry I posted yet another question like I did... I guess I just wanted some
clarification as my computer's manufacturer couldn't answer nor the customer
service people at the stores I visited.
So, thank YOU! (Now I guess I'll opt for Access full version only).
