OLAP Cube - dimension restrictions?

K

Kasper Ovi

Hi

I've succesfully built the OLAP Cube and migrated it to the SQL Server. When
I try to make a analyzer-view, I'm restricted in using the cube dimensions.
The fact is I'm only allowed to drop entries from the "Totals" list to the
diagram/tabeles and when I've done that, then it's not possible to remove
that feature (eg. Actual cost) again.

Maybe this picture helps? www.clk.dk/olap-issue.gif

I've tried this one time before, but didn't find the solution back then.
Other installations have gone without problems, so I figure I forget
something or do something wrong!

The user is member of the OLAP Admin group, and I've set up roles for
Everyone to access all 3 cubes in the Analysis Database Role Manager.
OfficeXP is also installed on the computer.

Does anyone know what I do wrong?

Thanks!
Kasper

Kasper:

This looks like the incorrect OWCs are being used. Do you have an Office XP
or better application installed on the box you're doing this from? If so,
try deleting the Office Web Components from Add/Remove programs and hit the
page again.

Hi Gary

I uninstalled both Office XP and Office Project 2003, and installed the web
components from PWA when I was asked to do so.
After installation I tried creating a new view, but the same problem
appeared.

Can the problem be that I don't have Office 2003?

Thanks
Kasper

Kasper:

For 2002, having Project Pro 2002 was enough without having the rest of the
XP Office suite to get the OWCs activated in full function mode. I can't say
for sure that has changed with 2003, but it very may well have. Alternately,
it may be that the fact that Office XP is also installed on the machine is
the root of the problem. Try again by deleting the OWCs and Office XP and
install Project 2003 before going to the page. At least one Office 2003
application must be on the machine to get the proper version of the OWCs if
the rule is the same for 2003.

Hi everybody

Yes, SP3a was installed, but in the meantime I also found the solution:
Installing Office 2003 (with OWC2003) as Gary suggested.

It's typical for a MS app: When you upgrade one component, ALL must be
upgraded. Fortunately, everything works when you do so ;-)

Thanks for your suggestions!
Kasper
