Best to do a bit of preparation though.
File New - and set the project start date in Project/
Project Information.
Select all the old tasks and paste into the new file
The project will start from the Project Start Date you set.
I suggest making sure all tasks are - As Soon as Possible.
If you have a large # of tasks, an easy way to do this is
Insert / Column/ and select Constraint Type, and check,
and reset where necessary.
I would link all the tasks at this stage, being careful
not to include any summary tasks in the linking process.
You mentioned keeping the durations. If so insert a column
fo Type, and select fixed Duration. That make you the
master of Duration.
You haven't mentioned resources, but you can copy them
across no problems. Perhaps consider setting up a Calendar
to use as your base calendar.
Actually, you can do all this by saving your old schedule,
and just changing the Project Start Date in
Project /Project Info.
