Old Publisher Templates

Sue

I just upgraded to Publisher 2007. Believe it or not my previous version was
Publisher 97. I have a few templates in 97 that do not appear in 2007 that I
want to use. Is there anyway to access those old templates from 2007 version?

Install Publisher 97 in its own folder on your hard drive. You can use the old
templates. Publisher 97 great on WindowsXP, especially if you use the
compatibility mode.

I have the 97 in it's original folder on the hard disk. However, I can't
figure out how to access the 97 templates from the 2007 version.

You can't access the templates, but you can open the template from Publisher 97,
save it and then open it in 2007. Or in some cases copy/paste. I lost the Clip
Gallery when I installed 2007 so most of the 1997 wizards won't work for me.

Can't you just copy the templates to the new template directory. That's how I
have maintained all my templates as I progressed through all the upgrades.

What are the directory names? I can't seem to find them. For both Publisher
97 and Publisher 2007

In Publisher 97 the "templates" are really just Publisher files. Look in the
Publisher 97 folder for a folder called "PageWiz" You will not be able to open
these in other Publisher versions. You need to open Publisher 97, create a
publication, save as a template. Best solution is to install 97 in its own
folder.

In 2007 the templates are in a Templates folder, it is hidden in the Application
Data folder.
Similar to this
C:\Users\<<your name>>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates (Vista)
or
C:\Documents and Settings\<<user name>>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
(WindowsXP)
