OneNote 2007 - Default Template Page Orientation

I am trying to set the page orientation for the blank default page template
to "Landscape" for the "Auto" page size. However, the orientation selection
menu is greyed out and unchangeable. Is there a way to create a new templae
that will combine both the "Auto" page size and "Landscape" page orientation?

I think I am missing something here - "Auto" size means "infinite" in each
direction. This makes orientation hard to follow (since it is inifinite in
both x and y directions).

That does make sense. Would have been nice to find that definition in the
on-line help. Is is possible to create a template that is inifinte in y
direction (vertical page length) and fixed in x direction (horizontal page
width)?

No. There is either a fixed size or infinite.

As a workaround you might use some background image indicated the wanted
extension.
