OneNote audio should play audio in speach mode (equilizer)

Hi,

I have done quite a lot of note taking in OneNote sp1 on my M200 Tablet PC.
I also use audio recording feature to record audio clips for the meetings.

One of the problems I face is that when I play back the recorded audio in
OneNote is that, there is a lot of disturbance (like the sound of my pen
writing on the tablet etc..) which muff's the speach.

But if I play the same audio clip (if you go to My Documents\My Notebook
folder we find the *.wma files with the audio from OneNote) in WMP10 with the
Graphics Equilizer set to "Speach", i find that the audio quality of the
playback is enhanced and its clear to hear the voices being spoken.

So my suggestion for the OneNote team is to have an ability to set this kind
of an equilizer while playback from OneNote so that the audio quality for
voice is much better.

Very good suggestion. Can I ask though, are you using the built-in
microphones on the M200, an an external one for recording? If you're using
the built-in ones, they do have a tendency to pick up the closer noises,
too.

Hi Chris,

I use the in-built mic of M200, which is pretty good! Considering the fact
that I can record audio of meeting without raising any curosity (which would
happen if there was an external mic), as well as causing any disturbance to
the normal meeting routine.

Although the in-built speaker on M200 kind of sucks due to its low volume,
if I connect it to larger amplified speakers the audio is quite audible. With
the "Speach" equilizer setup, the voices seem to sound more clearer.

Very good observations. Do you know there's a volume control "dial" on the
M200 facing you on the front edge of the keyboard portion? It is on the
left side. If I crank mine up, I can make the Tablet PC vibrate with sound.

Chris,

I know about the volume control 'dial' learned it the hard way when I first
got the Tablet the "factory setting" for the dial was to turn it off. So I
struggled a bit to get my M200 to play sound, since in the OS the volume
control showed full, there were no missing drivers etc. But turning the Dial
on worked!

I have two problems with the in-built speakers. I am not sure why, but when
I play the OneNote Audio setting the speakers on a full blast, still the
sounds come muffed. (Hence the suggestion to have Speah EQ).
Only when I connect them to external speakers I can clearly hear the speach.

And the second annoying problem is that if I have the "Mic Boot" selected in
the audio settings the Mic and the Speaker Echo giving loud squeeks untill i
mute the mic. So I need to keep switching from Mute Mic for listning to
Unmute Mic for recording

There are so many settings, I don't know where to start. I would suggest
opening Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel, then try setting
everything to "Default." Also make sure you do the same for settings (where
available) on the Advanced button in each area. That would give us a basis
with which to work.

Also, make sure on the volume tab, in the Speaker settings section, Advanced
button, Speaker setup area you've got Laptop stereo speakers selected.
