OneNote should link to the tab the screen clipping comes from-IE7

S

Steve

When a screen clipping is taken from an Internet Explorer 7 tab, the link in
OneNote is to the first tab and not the tab from which the screen clipping
comes. Is this a bug?

Ben hello,
could you please consider my last three questions?
I am waiting for a reply for days.
I would appreciate your concern.

Screen clipping? Or a web page sent from IE7? They are two different
beasts, and clarifying what you're seeing and which applications you're
using would help get you an answer.

Ben below are 4 questions.
I would apprciate your concern.
But if that is too much i can also understand.
Thank you in advance

1. Hi in ON2003, is it possible to keep the list expanded in the navigtion
bar?
Note that I am not asking if it is possible to keep the navigation bar
visible or something.
I am asking to make the list expnaded when i click on the navigtion bar.

bar?

3. Hi,
How can i set the size of line breaks?
That is, how can I set indicate how far will two lines be apart from
eachother.
When I press enter at the end of a sentence (not neceserrily that the
sentence ends at the right border of the container)
I would like the sentence to be 'just' below the now above sentence and not
under it with some space.

4. Folks,

Why news.microsoft.com does not have a microsoft.public.binary.onenote news
channel?
Sometimes it is jsut easier to send screen clippings from onenote in order
to explain our problem.
I think in upgrading from ON11 to On12, such a group would be in dire need
for the pariticipants.
Moreover, people can send screen shots of their onenote looks and we can
have an idea how people
use onenote and grab ideas from eachother.

I don't think so, no. Not in 2003.

See above.

Umm. I don't know offhand - I'll have to look it up next time I have ON2003
open.

4. Folks,

Why news.microsoft.com does not have a microsoft.public.binary.onenote
news
channel?

None of the products have a "binaries" group as far as I know. I'm not a
huge fan of binaries groups personally because they are easy to abuse, tend
to be targets for spammers and viruses, and they're sort of a pain to use.

Still, I've forwarded your suggestion along to the NNTP administrators at
Microsoft. I would be sort of surprised if they added one, though, for the
reasons I just listed.

Ben thanx a lot.
I would appreciate if you can look for the line break problem soon.
Have a nice day.

I understand Ben but we should keep in mind that not all people will be
using ON2007 anytime soon.
Moreover, the turnover rate of office programs may not be as high as people
think
or impose.
Moreover the new office requires quite a bit of hardware compatibility and
performance for which
not all of us can afford soon i guess.
So I would like to expect full support for ON2003 till it gets really old.

Just to jump in here...
Microsoft will be supporting ON 2003 for a long time to come of course.
However, please keep in mind that MVPs are not Microsoft employees. They are
rather volunteers who provide help on MS products as a side to their regular
jobs. Therefore while you can expect to receive help from MVPs, you can't
demand that they provide help for a product forever. They will try their
very best of course, but for older products they often will only be able to
help you with what they remember from using it.
As two OneNotes don't really coexist on a computer, the only way for an MVP
who has already switched to 2007 to help you is to have a virtual machine or
another computer somewhere with ON 2003.
Please keep that in mind when you are asking for help here.

Aloha Patrick,

In fact virtual machines are my weapon of choice. I have half a dozen of
them running various operating systems -- one with another install of WinXP
Tablet Edition that has Office 2003 (and OneNote 2003) on it. One with Windows
Server 2003, one with Fedora Linux...even one I'm finishing a Vista install
on. VMs are great; don't know how I lived without them.

Hi Ben,

I know the feeling :)
I have one for Office 2007 B1TR, Expression Web Designer, Fedora 5 (even
though I still need to get the VMWare tools working on it). I guess I need
to set up another soon with Office 2003. Vista is definitely going into a VM
once the public beta is out.
