open a Puiblisher 2003 file in Publisher 2000?

I maintain a web page for my Condo Association. A neighbore puts out a
monthly 4 page document with pictures etc. created in Publisher 2003. I
cannot open this file using my Publisher 2000 software. I actually want the
file in .PDF format (Adobe Reader), but neither my Adobe 7.0 Reader nor my
Adobe Acrobat 5.0 can open it.

How can I maneuver this .PUB file so it opens and saves in .PDF format?

If you want to open a Publisher 2003 file in Publisher 2000, you must save
it as a Publisher 2000 format file from within Publisher 2002 or 2003.

If you want to convert a Publisher 2003 file to PDF, open it in Publisher
2003 and either print it to the PDF printer of your choice or use the Adobe
add-in if you're using Acrobat 7.

Going via Publisher 2000 is inadvisable as it will give a noticeable amount
of formatting loss.

There are free PDF converters (that aren't Adobe Acrobat) available. e.g.

You have two options.

1. Ask the editor to save the file as a Pub 2000 (not recommended!) so that
you can convert it to a .pdf file.
2. The editor needs to convert it to a .pdf for you.

I have often recommended using PrimoPDF if you can't afford Acrobat.
