When I click to open a file, how can I set the window to display the files in
“details†view automatically?

Hi, riderj;
I just tried this with Word and Excel 2003: They both opened a dialog in the
same view that was used last time for that program. Are you saying yours
doesn't do that? Or is that not good enough? (You would have to open each
program, open the dialog, change views, and close dialog.)

Wellll, maybe I was a little too general in my statement. I checked the
Office products and, yes, they are all OK. Microsoft Streets & Trips doesn't
save the setting, and I guess what is more troubling, nearly all
non-Microsoft products don't.

I swear that on occasion an Office program forgets the setting. But I can’t
verify that. So, thank you for double checking this, and I appreciate you
effort.

Hi, riderj;
I just had to check that, <searches for non-Microsoft app.> ah, here's one:
Quicktime picture viewer. Nope, it didn't remember that setting. I wonder why
that is. Are the programmers lazy, or is Microsoft keeping the method for
that a secret? Anyone know?
