Donna

Not sure if I am in the correct newsgroup.

A coworker had to have her computer reloaded and now when
she does a right-click on a txt file that is sitting on
her desktop the "open with" option is missing.

Can anyone tell us how to get this back?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!!

Hi Donna,

If there is a File Type associated with .TXT files then
to see the 'open with' dialog hold down the shift key
when using the right click menu.

when she does this(wanting to open it in Excel), she
received a message that there is not file associtaion and
that she needs to first create an associaton. Could this
be an issue with the reload of Excel.

Donna,

I would just open the .txt file in excel in the normal way. Just open the excel and
File, Open, File of types [Text Files]

Now just follow the import wizard on the screen.

Please note that desktop folder is as follows:

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Desktop
USERNAME = your login/username

I don't know why you don't have "Open With" item!!! M$ short changed you!!

Hope this helps.

Not sure if I am in the correct newsgroup.

A coworker had to have her computer reloaded and now when
she does a right-click on a txt file that is sitting on
her desktop the "open with" option is missing.

Can anyone tell us how to get this back?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!!
