Open Word with a gray screen

D

Dottie

I would like to have Word default to not opening any templates on startup and
have it open with the gray screen. Is this possible?
I then want to make a company template (several) the users can choose the
one they want to use. Is this workable, if so, what do I need to do?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Hi Dottie,

first question, like this, not regarding
lots of possible complications.

Sub autoexec()
Application.OnTime When:=Now + TimeValue("00:00:01"), _
Name:="closenow"
End Sub
' ---
Sub closenow()
If Left(ActiveDocument.Name, 8) = "Document" Then
ActiveDocument.Close
End If
End Sub

Before completion of autoexec,
there is no document to be closed.

Second question.
???
File New, select template ?!

To open Word without a new document window, just add the /n switch to the
startup command line. For example:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE" /n
