Opening 97 & 2000 versions in 2003

Is there a way to automatically update an earlier version of a .doc so it
looks the same in 2003?

I have some training material in 2000 that loses a lot when I open it in
2003. The main problem is with Drawing Objects. The Arrow Heads on lines all
come in at the minimum size and are not close to acceptable in most files. I
have several hundred files with drawings that would be very hard to update.

Presently I am keeping 2000 installed to work with these files and to print
them but I would think there is a way to handle the situation that I have
not found.

Thanks:

Bud

Hi Bud,

I don't think there's anyway to change this particular behavior, no. Best
would probably be to create these arrows in a real graphics program (even
using copy/paste, if that works), then import them as static graphics (instead
of Drawing Objects). Or, you might even try copying, then Edit/Paste Special
in a graphics format. As soon as they're no longer Drawing objects, they
shouldn't change.
