Opening a file in Office

This is a wierd problem and minor but it is really annoying and I am
not sure how to search for a fix.

1. Open Excel
2. Open File - Window opens
3. Normal operation would be - If you type 2-3 characters the focus in
the folders jumps the folder - example typing "wat" would jump to
folders starting with "wat...."
4. On my computer - if I type "wat" it jumps from W folders, to A
Folders, to T Folders.

I am typing fast enough...

Any ideas on how to search for a resolution or anyone know a fix?
