Opening docx files on my Mac

Q

Quizkid

I have Mac OS X Version 10.4.10 with Office v. X for the Mac.

In the last week, I have received two Word documents from clients with the
suffix docx. I cannot open them. The clients are running Office 2007, and
apparently this suffix is now standard for Word documents. How do I upgrade
my Mac or get a patch or whatever I need so I can open these documents? I'm
a freelance grantwriter and I do my business via e-mail attachments.

You could always ask your client to resave the document in .doc format, which
enables backwards compatibility to Microsoft Office as old as 95 - I think...
