Opening Files from Links

D

Dave

I currently have some links set up that open files from a
Shared drive on my network. However, when I click to open
the file from the link, it opens up 2 different sessions
of the file. What can I do to prevent the opening of the
same file twice?

None of the 3 access databases are in your FP web
file:///S:/Shared_B/BrianM/Access/cust_first_97.03.mdb

If the are supposed to be accessible from the internet they need to be imported into your FP web

| The page is www.mcldgoldstar.com The links are all 3 in
| the database section.
|
| However, I don't think you will be able to access the
| databases due to the firewall.
|
| This may not even be a front page / web issue, but some
| sort of setting internal to our cpu's...I am unsure. You
| click on link, click open, it opens the database twice.
| It isn't a big deal, just annoying.
|
| thanks!

Sorry for hte late reply.

That is correct, you will not be able to open the files as
they are on a shared drive beneath a firewall. I have it
that way because others input data into it (as I can't get
the web to import its answers into access yet...still
learning:)

It opens a new web browser, opens the file, closes the web
browser, then opens another access file.

although, if I open my access file by holding the left
shift key to edit it, it only opens one. Could this be an
access issue?

Sounds like you are trying to use Access VBA in a web browser
- VBA is not supported in browsers
(the left shift key plus file open in Access disables any autostart code)

Ya, which is why I am thinking there is something wrong
with my access program because when I disable my autostart
stuff from Access by holding left shift from my link on
the website, it only opens one. But when I open it as
normal from the site, it opens 2. That make sense?
