I am having a problem opening PPT files through IE. In
the past (Office XP) when browsing to an Intranet site,
selecting a PPT file and opening it, the file would open
within Internet Explorer without problems.
Now when I attempt to do this, I get the following error.
Microsoft PowerPoint can't start broadcasting your
presentation.
Microsoft PowerPoint can't install the necessary files
due to Windows Installer error 1605.
This action is only valid for products that are currently
installed.
If I click ok and wait, the presentation will load... It
is just a pain to have to wait for the error and then
wait for it to finish loading.
I know that the 1605 error is an Install Shield error
stating that there is a registry problem. Why however
would it have to install any files just to open a PPT
file? Again, this only started happening after
installing Office Pro 2003.
