Opening Project

Julia

Hi

When I launch Project, a new document is created (called Project1) but then
when I open an existing project (via File>Open), a separate document is
opened therefore I have a blank document plus my existing document open.
Then I have to close Project1 as I don't require it.

When compared to Word, for example, when the above steps are carried out,
the new document is not kept open but rather 'replaced' with the document
that you intend to work on.

Can this be done somehow within Project? It just saves time if this could
be done in Project as well.

Thank you.

Hi Julia,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

The best I can offer is in Tools/Options.../General tab and select to Open
last file on startup. This will prevent the creation of a new project file.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
