Order in Which to Populate Schedule

K

Karen

For a FIXED WORK schedule, is there a best practice associated with the order
in which the schedule initially gets created? In other words, once my tasks
and sub-tasks are put into the schedule, should I then populate 1) resource
name, 2) predecessors, and 3) work? Or is there a better order to enter
those pieces of information?

Thanks,

Karen

Karen,
With Fixed Work tasks, you have to enter the Work before assigning the
resources. You can set the predecessors when you want, but I advise to
create these relationships after the WBS.

Hi Karen,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

For my money, the predecessors are the next priority so that you can check
all the logic without being encumbered/confused with resources. I would
then enter the Resources and the amount of Work for each assignment at the
same time, gradually working through each task.
