Out of office

We are using Office XP and when the user goes into outlook
and tries to set her out of office it does not show up
under tools. The option is missing. Is this something we
missed in the install?

Yes. What you missed is using an Exchange server. The Out-of-Office
Assistant exists only when using Exchange as the back end.

We are using the exchange server. There are no other
services set up except for the exchange server.

Your Exchnage Administrator apparently has not enable the option then.

Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]

It's enabled by default, for internal mail. It's disabled to the Internet -
this can be changed if your company wishes it (but note that many don't as
it will reply to every spam message you get, verifying your existence - and
some also feel it's a security risk).
