Outlook 2000 attachment problem

When I click on an attachment, the message comes up that
the system cannot find the file. This message happened
the same time my external hard drive quit working? How do
I troubleshoot this?

If you open regedit.exe and go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Outlook\Security

Is the OutlookSecureTempFolder pointing to a valid folder?
