Outlook 2000 crisis

Kimberly

Out of the blue, I received an error message "MS Outlook
could not open the file containing the folders used to
send and receive email messages, create appointments and
open address book. Please select from the options listed
below" Then I have the 2 choices of creating or opening.
Obviously, I want my old folders back but do not know how
to locate them when I select "Open an existing personal
folders file". Does anyone know what to do so I don't
lose my information? Also, a quick note, I have not done
a manual backup on this information.

Thanks much

Do you have your Personal Folders file (PST) stored on a network-attached
drive? A loss of network connectivity would cause the symptoms you saw.

To locate your PST, enable hidden files and folders and then search your HD
and any ususally-referenced network drives for *.pst. One of them will be
your Outlook data. You can browse to one of them when Outlook asks for an
existing personal folders file.
