Outlook 2000 personal folders

I accidently added a password to my personal folders which I promptly forgot. Is there anyway to bypass this and access those e-mails again or is it a complete write off?

You can look on the web for password recovery services but
they are very expensive (~ $500). Next time, don't forget
the password... if it was meant to be bypassed easily,
then why use a password at all?
