I am having a problem correctly starting Outlook 2000. It seems that I have
been having the problem after installing Windows XP SP3 and a crash shortly
thereafter. My Outlook.pst file is now fragmented and has not been able to
defragment after running Defragmenter. Outlook 2000 is now VERY slow to start
(if it does).
Without any pattern I can see I get some of the following errors:
"The application requires the Windows installer to run"; "Unable to open the
Outlook window. Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or
programs and try again"; "There is not enough free memory to run this
program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again. MAPI 1.0 [000004C9]";
"The required file OUTLRPC.dll cannot be found in your path, please reinstall
Microsoft Outlook."and another error indicating tht the virtual memory
minimum is too low. I have read the MS service help stating that to correct
it I could adjust the page file size which I believe I had successfully
completed with out alleviating the problem.
I have seen from Task Manager that when Outlook 2000 is started the page
file use rises to its maximum, 1.96GB.
I have run ScanDisk/ChkDsk, Defragmenter and a few third party registry and
spy ware cleaners. (SpyBot, CrapCleaner, and Ad-Aware). I also do not now
have the System Restore point I created prior to XP SP3 install, or the
restore point SP3 created. I have tried to correct this from what I had read
and have become rather frazzled so much so that I cannot recall a good
timeline of corrective events and actions I have taken. I know that at one
point I did use System Restore to go back to the point that the Windows SP3
had created and do not properly recall if it was before or after running the
third party software if I was back to Windows SP2. I went back to my last
System Restore point and was still at SP2. I downloaded and ran the SP3 file
and was not able to do so as it stated that some components were already
installed. I have since been successful in installing Windows SP3.
I do not have the installation disk for Windows XP or Office 2k. I did a
search for the file: "OUTLRPC.dll" and there was none found. I have found
that particular file on a website on the internet and have downloaded it. I
do not feel very confident about placing it within an MS Office folder...if I
even knew if it would solve the problem and where it should go.
On startup of Outlook, the title screen does not show that Outlook is
licensed to me as it displayed prior to this problem.
I cannot run the Office service packs/releases because it indicates it needs
the Office installation disk. I have never had the installation disk as I
bought the computer from Dell and the software was preloaded.
How can I remedy this problem?
