Outlook 2000 spellcheck setting has a mind of it's own.

One users Outlook is set to automatically check spelling before each email is
sent. He wants to remove this setting but it reappears mysteriously. I've
witnessed it myself too. We go to account options and uncheck to "always
check spelling before sending" , then we send an email to test. However,
after closing Outlook, then logging in and out, the setting is checked again.

Is this a bug. This does not happen to me, I'm using XP, he's using 2000.

No, Word isn't set as the editor. I tested, the same thing happens on my
account.
