Outlook 2000 will not close

Have used Outlook 2000 for years now. For 1 year on
current PC with XP Pro. When I close Outlook 2000 it does
not completely shut down. Thus can not back up pst
folder. Can go to Task manager and close it there. Have
reinstalled and continues to not close down. Others have
told me Outlook 2000 just does this. Anyone know of any
fixes?

Thanks!

Mr. Moxie

My Outlook 2002 does the same thing. I haven't been able to figure out why.
In order to re-start Outlook, I have to go to Task Manager and kill the old
one first.

I also have a similar problem under Win2k

I have a feeling that if I try to close Outlook while it is still doin
something (in the back ground)then the "kernel service" keeps running.

I have seen as many as 5 / 6 copies running - quite how so many becam
open is amystery - because if there is more than one copy running the
I cannot "open" Outlook (to create an new copy).

I have also noticed that the Phantom copy(s) will continue to collec
e-mails but the "Organize" feature does not function - so I end up wit
dozens of emails in the Indox rather than sorted into their desire
destination boxes.

Very anoying problem and would love to find a fix
