Outlook 2000 won't start

After fighting spyware for 2 days last week, Outlook 2K
has stopped running on a Win2K machine. I can see the
calendar & appointments when starting, but an immediate
error pops up that says "Operation Failed" then the
program crashes. We've tried the inbox repair tool (no
problems found), uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook,
command line Outlook safe mode. It still won't start.

Possibly related problem: in Control Panel | Mail... we
can't pull up the profile. When Mail is clicked, nothing
happens, so we can't edit, delete or add a profile.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank You!

Clyde, it sounds like a virus. I had similar problems and
a virus cleaner did the trick. Go to Symantec's web site
and try to run any of the cleaners, even the Beagle
cleaner. Good luck.

Thanks, Amy, but we've with Norton, AVG and Housecall and
we've used several spyware cleaners, too. It could be
that there was damage caused before a virus was cleaned.
I need to find a way to fix the problem, now.
Thank you.
