Outlook 2000

I have several user who have their NT accounts in one doamin but due to business need have their mail accounts on and exchange 5.5 server located in another domain. Over the past few weeks when one of these users is compiling a new mail message a new incoming message arrives outlook will hang for up to 20 seconds.

Any thoughts
