Outlook 2001 and Mac OS 8.6 and Subnet

Client has a system (OS 8.6) that worked fine in another building. Moved
next door in a different subnet and now can't get to the exchange server.
Access to the internet and web access to the exchange server works. Tried
to use the host file in the the TCP/IP with no luck.

I had my laptop with OSX and Entourage 10.1.4 and it worked fine.

Question:

Is there a way to get this to work over different subnets.

Upgrade to 9 help?

Hi Brian!

You shouldn't need to upgrade, but you've got a really weird problem. So
long as all IP information for the Exchange server is the same your Mac
should connect regardless of subnet.

Your problem sounds like a DNS misconfiguration on your Mac.

Does your network use DNS? Is your Mac 8.6 system hard-coded with a DNS
server? If so, remove this entry and allow your DHCP server to hand out the
proper DNS server or correct the DNS entry on the Mac. If your Mac is using
a different DNS server from what it was using on the other subnet, your
problem may lie somewhere in there.

Hope this helps! bill
