Outlook 2001- Password Problem

L

Lando

We have MAC OS 9.X clients that using Outlook 2001. The MAC users have been
able to connect to the exchange server until we changed their password. Now
every time they try to connect they get a username password error even when
the password is correct. We changed the password on a Windows machine and
they can login and use outlook fine. We go back to their MAC and they get
the password error. Any help would be apprecitated.

Thanks,
Lando

Hi Lando,

This is a known problem, if you are using Exchange 2000 or Exchange
2003 servers as your mail server. Go through this below MS Article

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=299656

On all your global catalog/domain controllers (ADS-2000/2003), check
the registry entry for
"HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA\nolmhash" key.

If this registry entry is "1", it prevents users of Win95/98/Outlook
2001 on Mac from using their LANmanager hash password on the Active
Directory.

Changing this value to "0" on all of your DC's and GC's should resolve
the issue. The DC/GCs will need to be rebooted, once this change is
made. I understand that the Mac users may need to have their passwords
reset after this change is made for them to be able to logon
successfully.

Best Regards,
S.R. Prashanth.
