Outlook 2002 Hangs on XP--Please Help

I cannot seem to keep Outlook 2002 from hanging my
computer for 1-3 minutes. This happens at least a dozen
times a day, and seems to happen when mail is being
sent/receive.

I am running Outlook on XP. Intel 2.4 Mhz with 1 GB
RAM. Have PST file on Drive D. Have disabled MSN
Messenger in Outlook. I run Norton Systemworks and
Internet Security. Have removed WinFax.

I am at my wits end and am considering going back to
Windows 2000 or Office 2000. Any other suggestions?
