Outlook 2002 reverts display name of archive folders

P

Peter Whysall

I have Outlook 2002 SP3 attached to an Exchange mailbox. No other mail
accounts are in use.

Two PST files are open; last year's mail archive, which is now static and
this year's archive, which is populated via AutoArchive on a daily basis.

I have set the display name of each to "Archive 2008" and "Archive 2009"
respectively. The filenames are, unimaginatively, "Archive 2008.pst" and
"Archive 2009.pst".

When Outlook AutoArchives, the display name of the destination PST is
reverted to "Archive Folders", even though I can subsequently change this in
the advanced properties for this PST file.

As an aside; when one changes the name like this, and then runs AutoArchive,
the name doesn't change immediately. One closes Outlook, restarts it, it
silently quits, and then one restarts it again, and the name is reverted to
"Archive Folders".

Is there a way of preventing Outlook from modifying the display name of a
PST file that is used for archiving in this way?
