Outlook 2002

I

Ian

I receive an e-mail with a .doc attachment. I double
click to open the attachment and I get an error message
which says "The system cannot find the file specified." I
click OK on that message and then double click the .doc
attachment again, which then opens. If I close Word and
try to open another e-mailed .doc attachment, the same
process is repeated. On the other hand, if I close the
attached .doc file but keep Word open, and then double
click on another attached .doc file, it opens with no
problem.

This problem is not the end of the world but it is
annoying to have to go through this process to open an
attached Word file in Outlook. I do not have any trouble
opening a Word file from the Explorer menu so the problem
seems to reside in Outlook 2002. This problem also seems
to have started after I downloaded the Adobe 6.0 Reader
while Outlook was open, so I am wondering if there is any
connection (I subsequently removed Adobe 6.0 Reader and
re-installed it with no other programs open).

Any ideas and suggestions appreciated by this competent
but technically ignorant user.
