Outlook 2003 hangs intermittently

T

Tillpott

My Outlooks 2003 has been frustrating me for about the past 2 months as it
just hangs around . . .

ie:

Opening an email from the Inbox ( any email ) it takes a good 30-45 secs to
open .

Opening a NEW email ( same )

Typing in an email ~ I can type the letters and sit and wait about 30-45secs
for them to appear on the screen.

Reply & Forward have the same hanging response.

My only solution is to restart the computer ~ I have tried shutting down
Outlook and opening it again ~ but it still hangs. So have to RESTART the
whole computer to rectify the problem.

I happens intermittently sometimes once in the day sometimes 3-5 times in
the day .... Hope someone can help ~ Thanks in advance.

I have the exact same problem and am eagerly waiting to see the response. My
problem started, or so I thought, when I downloaded a Mcafee update. Reading
about many problems related to Mcafee here, I uninstalled Mcafee and went
with Kaspersky. A day or so later I have the same problem as you have
described. I also notice that if you change the e-mail to plain text you can
type with no delay but in HTML it does hang up.

I have also noticed that when the hanging up is taking place, that if you
open task manager you will see that Outlook.exe is taking 90 - 100% of system
resourses JUST TO TYPE A MESSAGE!
