outlook 2003 message window closing on outlook exit

I have recently upgraded from Office 2000 to Office 2003. I now notice that
when I close Outlook 2003, all open email message windows also close on exit.
This was not the case with Outlook 2000 and would like to know how to disable
this. thanks.
