Outlook 2003 pst size problem

Hi,
on one of my small network we do not have Exchange server.
I purchased a copy of O2003 for the user that needs to have a pst file size
2G +.
After having a lot of problems with O2000 pst I was sure that O2003 will
solve the problem since it can provide up to 20G pst file.
Few days ago he called me. He couldn't send or receive e-mail. The error
message was:
your mailbox storage has exeed a size (something like that).

To solve a problem I recommended to archive at least 100M.
It started to work.

What to do?
Sure that his mailbox on Eudora mail server has a lot of free space.
So it's something to do with local pst.

Thanks,
Michael.

Is the PST file using the new format? Simply upgrading to OL2003 won't
increase the PST capacity. You've got to create a new PST using that format,
copy your existing data into it then replace your existing PST with the new
one.

Vince,
I think I really just upgraded O2000. Later I reinstalled Windows XP and
just opened an existing pst. Probably it's the same old pst format.
May be you can tell how I can find the difference between 2 psts formats.
In properties I don't see any pointing to a new format.

Thanks,
Michael.

If you click the Advanced button while checking the properties of the PST
you should find the format. I'm betting that it'll be in 97-2002 format.
Create a new PST in 2003 format using the File menu > New > Outlook Data
File. Then Copy (Drag/Drop) all your data to it. Also export your rules
using the Tools menu > Rules & Alerts > Options dialog. Quit Outlook then
swap the new PST for the old one, start Outlook then import the rules. That
should do it...
