Outlook 2003 - will not type e-mail message

I am trying to use outlook for sending email. When I get the word screen, I
can type in the address and subject, but when I type in the actual message no
type appears except blank spaces. My Word works fine other than this.

does it work if you use plain text format? Does the cursor move at all?
