Outlook 2003, Windows 2000 not remembering password

Hi all,

Can someone please tell me how to save the user password on Windows
2000, Outlok 2003?

I am running a corporate network with a mixture of Windows 2000 and XP
machines, all on Outlook 2003 SP2, which I am changing from POP3 access
to connect to Exchange Server 2007 (I know, a new product, but I don't
think it's the problem).

On the Windows 2000 machines, every time Outlook starts, the users are
prompted for their password. The username and domain are filled in,
but the password is blank. Enter the password, and things work fine
until you close Outlook and open it again, when it wants the password
again. There is no option to save the password.

This doesn't happen on the XP computers, which have a different layout
for the login box, which includes a "remember password" tickbox.

I have gone through every KB article I can find, including the "edit
the registry, delete Protected Storage and reboot" one.

I don't have "always prompt for user name and password" ticked in the
email account settings.

I have tried NTLM Authentication and Kerberos/NTLM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have another 5 Windows 2000
machines to change over to Exchange in the next couple of days, and the
users aren't going to like needing to type their passwords.

Thanks,

Bob
