Outlook 2003 Won't Send Attachments When They Are Open

Hello,

All of a sudden my Outlook 2003 is acting very strange. When I am
working on a file and I choose File>Send>As Attachment, it brings up
the email window and let's me type everything ok, but when I hit send,
it just freezes and nothing happens. The mail won't send.

I have outlook open and running all day. This happens with every file
I try to attach and send from Word, Excel, and even if I try it from
the right click menu on a file such as an image.

I have applied all of the updates so I have the most current product.

The work around that I have been using is to save the email and then
close the window. It shows up in my inbox, where I open it and hit
send and it works fine.

Does anyone have a fix?

The only outside issue that I can think of is that I installed an HP
Officejet Software program recently.

I would really appreciate any help as this is very annoying.

Thank you in advance.

Do things work better if the attachments aren't open when you try to send
them?

Yes, it works fine if I open an email and then attach an unopened file.
I uninstalled the HP drivers and it seems to be working better today.
I am wondering if the HP Printer was causing the problem. The down
side is that now I don't have a printer installed. I will try to
install the printer again and see if the problem starts back up.

Any other thoughts that you may have?

Thank you.

Hello Again,

It is not the HP driver. The problem is happening again today after
the printer uninstall.

Thanks.

Any other commonalities? Possibly the install of a desktop search engine or
some such thing?

No, no other recent installs. It only happens when the document is
open.

Thanks.

Do you have a virus scanner? I'm curious if it might be getting in the way.
