Is there a simple way of hiding the irritating "All Mail Folders" list that
appears in the navigation pane?

Hi, Gary,

There is a little arrow button thingy at the bottom of the navigation pane
that lets you customize what parts of the pane display. You can hide the
mail one altogether and create your own "shortcuts" pane with whatever you
find most valuable to display.

I'm guessing if you use Help to search for "navigation pane", you'll get
some good information on how to customize it.
