Russ and Diane: I apologize for sending you this message, but I
noticed you responded in May to another person experiencing a similar
problem. Thank you for any comments.

Hello,

I am suffering with the same problem a few others have posted in
previous months. I use the Vista Start button search function all day
long, particularly to find items in Outlook 2007. I just bought a new
desktop (Vista Home Premium, Core 2 Quad Q6600, 4GB RAM), installed
Office 2007 Ultimate and imported my saved .pst file (approximately
200MB) from my old machine.

The search utility works just as it did on my previous Vista desktop,
with the following two incredibly frustrating exceptions:

1. No words in any of my "Contacts Notes" are indexed, and the search
function fails to find any words in any Notes section of any of my
Contacts.

2. No words in any of my "Task Notes" are indexed, and the search
function fails to find any words in any Notes section of any of my
Tasks.

The search utility does appear to index the contents of all emails,
but only the titles of the Contacts and Tasks, not their respective
Notes. The search function also indexes the contents of Word 2007 and
Excel 2007 documents.

On my previous machine (Vista Ultimate, Core 2 Duo E6600, 2GB RAM),
the Search function DID work correctly, indexing the Notes section of
the Contacts and Tasks on the very same .pst file.

Under indexing options, the new machine states that it has indexed
approx. 16,500 items, while the old computer shows approx. 18,500
(again, same .pst file and documents). I assume the 2,000 item
difference are the contents of the Contacts Notes and Task Notes.

The Indexing Options settings on the two machines are exactly the
same.

As far as troubleshooting, I have rebuilt the index about a dozen
times (no success), ran the Outlook 2007 Diagnostic (no problems found
and no success), ran the Office 2007 Repair function in Add/Remove
Programs (no success), changed "pst" and "contacts" in Index Settings,
File Types to "Index Properties and File Contents" from "Index
Properties Only" (no success), restored defaults in Index Settings and
rebuilt index several times (no success).

Any help with this incredibly frustrating problem would be greatly
appreciated. Please let me know if any other information is needed.

Hi, I've just done a separate post a month further on, with pretty much the
same problem. Did you by any chance get a solution?
