Outlook 97--Opening Attachments

PLEASE HELP--THIRD POSTING!!

When reading my E-Mail, most messages only show up as an
attachment file, which then has to be double-clicked to be
opened and read. When I double click the file, it opens
up Microsoft I.E. 5.5, and the message can then be read.

Can Outlook 97 be configured, or can a setting be changed
to open up the attachment file or files automatically once
the incoming mail file has been open, rather than been
forced to open up the attachment file manually.

No, it can't and you'd be ill-advised to do that anyway.
