Make sure that you apply SP2 for Office/Outlook 97. (It will include some
enhancements for POP3.)
Outside of that, it should be as easy as going to the control panel > mail
applet and adding the Internet Email service to your profile. (just
remember that POP3 under Outlook 97 is pretty damn barbaric. [lots of
changes since the internet boom])
Thanks for that. Having come from ME with some other version of Outlook
(dunno which one, but it featured a send/receive messages button - the
height of sophistication!) to XP with Outlook 97 I'm having problems every
step of the way... I have now been able to set up the mail account (why in
the control panel, rather than, oh, let's say - the email program???) which
is good. However, it'll probably take me a while longer to get everything
completely sorted, so I reckon I'll be posting here for a while longer....
