Outlook 97 Setup

Michael

I am attempting to run Outlook 97 on my Windows XP (Home
Edition) system. But I have no clue how to set it up for
use of my hotmail account. What are the steps that I need
to take in setting up my account?

You can't set up a Hotmail account in Outlook 97...it doesn't support the
HTTP protocol that Hotmail uses (in fact, HTTP support was not added to
Outlook until version 2002).

There are a couple of 3rd party applications listed at the bottom of the
section at http://www.slipstick.com/mail1/olinet.htm#hotmail that may be
worth looking into -- they take your Hotmail messages and pull them into a
POP3 setting so that you could use them with older versions of Outlook.
However, I don't know for a fact that they support Outlook 97...you'll have
to check with the product manufacturers on that.
