While trying to archive, then compact .pst files, I ended up archiving my
main file. Unable to compact it, I moved each email folder separately from
that into a temp file and tried to compact that. Still didn't work. Now I
had two huge files and Outlook just kept crashing. When I tried to open,
move, archive, compact or anything with that temp file, Outlook would crash.
So I finally deleted the file using Windows Explorer. When I realized that
none of my emails were now available through the archive.pst file, I tried to
bring the temp file back from the Recycle Bin. However, now it was no longer
named temp.pst--it had a very, very long string of numbers and was a folder
all by itself with all my files in it. I can't open it at all nor can I see
or extract the individual files from that folder. Any ideas about retrieving
these files? Thanks for any help you can give me.
